My Little Boy is Six (months old)

Here’s a photo of my younger son taken on a rainy San Clemente day in July.  Love this little guy.

“Goal!” Book Signing with Mina J

On Saturday, I attended a book signing in Aliso Viejo for the new children’s book, “Goal!”.  The author, Mina Javaherbin, is someone I’ve photographed in the past.

Mina’s new book is truly a work of art – an uplifting story with beautiful illustrations by A.G. Ford.  If you have children, do yourself a favor and order this book.  Buy an additional copy for yourself, so you can have an unblemished first edition.  Who knows, it may win a Newbery and/or Caldecott Medal.  It’s really that good.  “Goal!” can be purchased here.

Brother and Sister

A while back I did a shoot for a local couple who wanted some photos of their two young children.  They wanted shots of the kids in and around the house, and we tried a variety of different scenarios.  Very cute kids and a very fun shoot.

Why I Like Color Film

The colors almost always come out right, especially skin tones.  I shot these photos using my Mamiya RB67 Pro-S on Kodak Portra 400NC.  The results are spot on color-wise.  I could never get this close to reality with digital. There’s always too much red/magenta in the skin tones.  (Other than resizing, there has been no Photoshop manipulation of these photos.)

Mother and Son

Did a little shoot with the mother of one of my models and her son.  Here’s a sample:

Family Photos

A very nice family from the Bay Area was vacationing in San Clemente in August, and they asked me to come by and take a few photos where they were staying.  Here are some photos from the shoot:

Latest Ad Featuring a Grouchy Bumble Bee

This is my latest San Clemente Times Ad.  If you have kids and they have Halloween costumes, come by the studio (bring some cash) and have your little ones digitally immortalized.  (They can be immortalized in film also, but it costs extra.)

Father’s Day

Did a mother / daughter shoot a couple of weeks ago.  Mom wanted some studio shots to give to her husband for Father’s Day.  Was holding off on blogging about it until after the big day.  Some photos below:

Family Portraits

Did a family portrait shoot earlier this week with a local, San Clemente fam.  Here are a some individual photos of the kids.

My Latest Newsletter . . .

. . . can be found in my new “Newsletters” category (on the right).  Read and enjoy.  But – caveat lector – afterwards, you may feel like this guy:

Back of the Head Photos are Underrated

My little boy’s a bruiser.  He’s not even 16 months old, and he already looks like a burly little man-child.  Sometimes I forget how young and delicate he still is.  This photo – where he’s dwarfed by his highchair and waiting on his mother for his next bite of ketchup-laden goop – reminds me.

The Many Shades of R.C.

Been working on a large framing project for a client, so haven’t been doing much shooting.  Except for around the house.  Here’s the boy once again:

Can’t Help Myself

I know – enough pictures of the kid already.  Maybe this will be more of a personal blog than a professional one.  Anyway, caught the little R-Man in a place he wasn’t supposed to be.  This was the reaction.

Fright Night! Yamahama!

Took a few shots of the lad around the house this eve.  Thought these were funny/interesting/a little scary?

“Fright Night – Yamahama” – From an old Seinfeld espisode.  Anyone know which one?  Anyone?  Bueller?  Anyone?

Best Photo of All Time

As far as I’m concerned . . .
