Shoot with Mina Javaherbin
Recently did a shoot with author Mina Javaherbin. Her new kids’ book Goal! is being released in April and she wanted a few new photos of herself for marketing purposes. Check out her facebook fan page when you have a chance. Very funny, smart and talented woman.
Engagement Session
Recently did an engagement session in San Clemente with a couple from Sunset Beach. It was supposed to rain that day, but we lucked out. It was a beautiful day, and we got some very nice shots. Click on images for larger view.
Couple Shoot with Dog
Recently I was hired by a Dana Point couple who needed a nice portrait of themselves for their family. They brought their very sweet dog along with them, and we walked around Dana Point Harbor talking and shooting. We did several posed shots, but I liked this spontaneous photo the best.
Brother and Sister
A while back I did a shoot for a local couple who wanted some photos of their two young children. They wanted shots of the kids in and around the house, and we tried a variety of different scenarios. Very cute kids and a very fun shoot.
Business Headshot
A local real estate agent hired me to do some headshots for her marketing material. I met her at her home, and we decided to do the shoot in her backyard. She had a nice bougainvillea plant that we used as a backdrop, and I used a shoot through umbrella as a soft key light. Came out pretty nicely.
Local Wellness Center
Recently did a shoot for Brenda Carbone and Mark Stevens of O2 Wellness in San Clemente. They needed some interior shots and a few environmental business portraits for marketing purposes. O2 Wellness was recently featured in San Clemente Journal. Check it out. Very nice people. Lots of good vibing.
Family Session at Three Arch Bay
Took some photos of a very nice family and their dogs at Three Arch Bay. It was a bit windy so we took cover near the arches and did most of our shooting there. I’d heard about Three Arch Bay since I was a kid, but I’d never been there. Beautiful.
Engagement Session
Here are a few shots from an engagement session with a couple who drove down from LA to do some studio and San Clemente beach shots. Great couple – very fun shoot.
Business Portraiture
I did a portrait sitting with a business executive a few weeks ago. Just getting around to posting a few examples.
Halloween Christmas Card Shoot
A lovely family came in to the studio for a portrait session on Halloween. They wanted to get some good shots for their Christmas Card. Used a traditional white seamless backdrop. Came out pretty nice.
Why I Like Color Film
The colors almost always come out right, especially skin tones. I shot these photos using my Mamiya RB67 Pro-S on Kodak Portra 400NC. The results are spot on color-wise. I could never get this close to reality with digital. There’s always too much red/magenta in the skin tones. (Other than resizing, there has been no Photoshop manipulation of these photos.)
Family Photos
A very nice family from the Bay Area was vacationing in San Clemente in August, and they asked me to come by and take a few photos where they were staying. Here are some photos from the shoot:
Latest Ad Featuring a Grouchy Bumble Bee
This is my latest San Clemente Times Ad. If you have kids and they have Halloween costumes, come by the studio (bring some cash) and have your little ones digitally immortalized. (They can be immortalized in film also, but it costs extra.)
Local Actor
Last week I did a studio and location shoot with an Actor for his zed card. Some pics from the session (click for larger view):
Father’s Day
Did a mother / daughter shoot a couple of weeks ago. Mom wanted some studio shots to give to her husband for Father’s Day. Was holding off on blogging about it until after the big day. Some photos below:
Family Portraits
Did a family portrait shoot earlier this week with a local, San Clemente fam. Here are a some individual photos of the kids.
Miss M

Had a visitor to the studio last week who wanted to do a few shots for her boyfriend. Valentine’s Day and all. We tried a variety of different looks, and we came up with some very interesting photos, which can be viewed on my gallery page.

Vesper
Last weekend, I had the privilege of photographing Vesper, a great Orange County band. They had a video shoot scheduled for Saturday, and they wanted me to come by to capture some stills of the production (link here). I asked if they wanted to do some studio work before the video shoot, they said “yup”, and they came by for a quick session early in the morning. This is a band that deserves attention. Check ‘em out here.

New Year’s Eve Studio Fun
So my super-cool sister-in-law (lotsa hyphens, whew!) came over, and after receiving one of her sister’s famous hair cuts, she was kind enough to sit for a few test shots.
